What's the Theme?

How do I know what's going on? Good question! At Ballona Beach we have a lot of daily activities to make sure that campers have a great time. All of our weeks are themed, and the days for that week coincide with the theme. This means that no two days on our beach will ever be the same. This is our way of keeping camp exciting, and a lot of thought has gone into making sure that the end of day activities are engaging. Most of the end of day activities (although related to the week’s theme) can stand alone, but a few weeks have activities that extend over many days. For example, during More Music Week campers get the chance to write, rehearse, and record a song, and take pictures for the Ballona Beach CD. Because it is a long process, a little will be done each day, so to fully participate it would be best to be present everyday of that week (Attendance everyday is not mandatory, but is suggested for those who wish to participate in every aspect of the CD's creation). So please make sure to read the profiles on our weeks below before signing up to make sure that your camper(s) get the most out of the Ballona Beach experience. Please note that some weeks may fill up faster than others, and therefore early enrollment is highly recommended.

Super Hero Week                        June 14-18                  Up… Up… and away! It's Super Hero Week and this will be a week full of challenges based on heroes including obstacle courses, trivia relays, fire fighter rescues, and mazes. Each day’s activities for this week stand alone.

June 21- 25 Why wish upon stars when you can become one? Our challenges during this week have all the star making capabilities, performances by groups for points, athletic challenges, and a create and build the best planet contest. So jump into Ballona's solar system of fun. Each day’s activities stand alone, and at week’s end a pizza party and announcement of the team’s scores.
Super Agent Week June 28-July 2 Those who love the idea of being a detective or solving mysteries will get a kick out of this week. Each day groups will challenge each other with the sole purpose of winning the Super Agent Certificate. There will be relays, obstacle courses, and mysteries to solve.  These missions are yours if you so choose. Each day's activities for this week stand alone.

More Music Week
July 5-9
Calling all performers to the stage! It's More Music Week and that means that the creativity of our campers will be flowing as they write, rehearse and record a song with their groups. The songs will go on the Beach CD (of which each camper will get a copy), and make it into rotation on our camp radio hour. There will also be a few challenges during this week as well. Each day's activities do not stand alone and it is best to be present as many days as possible for this week. On Friday there will be a listening/album release party.
Picasso vs. Monet July 12-16 Is there an artist in you? Join us during this week and we’ll find out. We have sand city contests, art on canvas, stained glass workshops, and art based competitions like relic hunter.  Each day’s activities for this week stand alone.
Silly Cinema Week July 19-23 Join us for a week of fun based on the latest in cinema.
Fantasy Session    Dates                Week's Description
Olympic Week July 26-30 And the gold goes to...??? During this week it could be you, if you join in our summer games. The week starts off with the opening ceremonies and then "the games begin!" All week campers take part in different Ballona Olympic events (some traditional, some new), and campers can choose which activities they want to take part in. At the end of the week we have our International Festival as campers collect their medals. It could be you! Each day’s activities stand alone, however to make sure that everyone gets a fair chance at winning a medal they should be present as much as possible as well as on Friday for closing ceremonies and the presentation of awards.
Captain of the Sea
Aug 2-6 All hands on deck! It's Captain of Sea Week and the water relays and scavenger hunts are back on. Teams get to excel in the Pirate Challenges, and enjoy the Lobster Luau at the end of the week, so if it's fun your looking for then Ballona marks the spot. Each day’s activities for this week stand alone.
Game Time Week Aug 9-13 Everybody put your feet in. We're making teams for game week. We have taken some of the best games ever and turned them into team challenges. So if you like games, then you are it!  Each day’s activities for this week stand alone.
Post Camp    Dates             Week's Description
Sunrise Week Aug 16-20 Well it's post camp, and that means it's the beginning of the end of summer.    School has started for some of us, but for those who still have a little more time to hangout we have Sunrise Week. We are going to take the best activities and roll them into one huge week of fun. Each day’s activities for this week stand alone. We will have a celebration on Friday.

Hurray!! Because of the way the calander is set we are getting an extra week of summer before school starts so why not have an extra sunset week of fun???? And this one has a festival on friday!!!

Prices and Discounts

There is a 5 day (1 week) minimum, and days do not have to be attended consecutively. Sign up before April 30th and receive a 5% Early Enrollment Discount off of your first camper's enrollment. A 5% discount will be deducted for each additional camper enrolled per family between March 1 and May 31 (This Sibling Discount applies to lesser enrollment/s. Discounts may not be combined nor used in conjunction with any other special offers). Camp is open daily from 9 am to 4 pm. Extended Camp is from 8 am to 9 am in the morning, and 4 pm to 6 pm in the evening at a rate of $8/hour, or any portion thereof.

Registration Fee (One time per camper fee.) $25

Extended Camp (8a.m.-9a.m., 4pm-5pm, & 5pm-6pm) $8/hour or portion thereof
